	A FEW MANATEE FACTS: Manatees are the source of the mermaid legend! Manatees normally range from 10 to 13 feet in length, and can weigh up to 2,000 lbs! The biggest Manatee ever documented weighed in at 3,500lbs! Manatees can swim at speeds up to 20mph, but generally like to cruise at 2-6mph! Manatees are vegetarians and eat 10% of their body weight every day! In the wild, Manatees can live 50 - 60 years! Manatees are gentle giants and have no natural enemies! There may be as few as 2,600 - 3,000, Manatees left! Manatees can stay submerged for up to 15 minutes at rest and 3-5 minutes when active, before surfacing to breathe!
